Assemblywoman Simmons Delivers $75,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Salem County

Pennsville, NJ – On Saturday morning at Riverview Beach Park in Pennsville, Assemblywoman Heather Simmons joined State Senator John Burzichelli and Assemblyman Dave Bailey, Jr. to announce that she has successfully procured $75,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Salem County in the 2025 state budget. The legislators also presented the organization with a check to commemorate the funding.

“Habitat for Humanity of Salem County is a tremendous force for good in South Jersey, and getting them the funds they need to help people was very important to me, Senator John Burzichelli, and Assemblyman Dave Bailey, Jr.,” said Assemblywoman Simmons.

The funding will specifically help cover the costs of Habitat’s Recyclable Ramp Program. This program allows volunteers to install recyclable and adaptable handicap-accessible ramps which can be set up, broken down, and moved more easily than permanent ramps.

“I cannot say enough about the amazing individuals who volunteer their time and labor with Habitat for Humanity of Salem County. They are the epitome of selfless service to others, and I feel privileged to help them obtain the resources needed to do the extraordinary work they do for our community,” said Simmons.

Utilizing these new ramps will save seniors and disabled residents an estimated $7,500 to $10,000 in costs incurred by permanent ramps.

“This innovative program will not only save money for seniors and residents with disabilities,” added Simmons, “but it will help them to move around more easily, engage with this beautiful community, and lead fuller lives.”

Habitat for Humanity of Salem County has been building homes and supporting residents for over 40 years, and continues to be a pillar of the Salem County community.
