New Jersey American Water and Franklin Bank provided $750,000 in funding through the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs’ (DCA) Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit (NRTC) Program, with New Jersey American Water delivering $702,500 and Franklin Bank delivering $47,500. An additional $573,750 to remediate and abate lead-based paint hazards in Salem City will be provided by DCA through their NRTC Lead-Based Paint Hazard Program.
“This funding from New Jersey American Water and Franklin Bank to Stand Up for Salem will provide for a number of genuinely impactful initiatives, such as training and workforce development at the new Career Trades Training Center, a business incubator for local entrepreneurs and small businesses, a home repair assistance program for low- and moderate-income homeowners, and local community organizing and engagement efforts,” said Assemblywoman Simmons.
“We are excited for the tangible results this generous investment will produce for the residents of this community,” said Assemblyman Bailey. “The business and workforce development efforts will help build a stronger local economy, and the home repair and greater community engagement efforts will help deliver a better quality of life for residents. This is a big win for Salem City, which is home to our Salem County office, and we appreciate New Jersey American Water, Franklin Bank, Stand Up for Salem, and DCA for working together to make it happen.”
“As representatives of Salem City in the New Jersey State Legislature, we are thrilled to see more than $1.3 million being invested into this community,” added Senator John Burzichelli. “This is great news, and these funds will make a very real and very positive difference in people’s lives. We thank New Jersey American Water and Franklin Bank for being terrific community partners and supporting Salem City and Salem County.”
